Young Community Building

The field of social involvement and People2People has been addressed at the Arad Young Adults Center since 2009, and this is without a full time coordinator during the past years. Today there is parliament group for young families operating at the Young Adults Center, which is the continuation of the young people s parliament that operated within Municipality committees to promote various municipal projects. A local food cooperative was set up with 500 member families. A second hand shop was established at the Young Adults Center as a social commercial enterprise as well as two student leadership groups. A tourist complex was established as a social enterprise on the grounds of the living quarters of the young people, including running the Martha pub and planning tourist trips of particular social value led by young tourist guides from the city, as well as serving as a meeting place for young people from the Diaspora. Young people from Birthright and Masa are hosted, leading to rewarding encounters on the challenges facing young people around the world, and young Jewish people in general and in the Negev in particular. Additional ethics and value based programs are drafted for young people from around the world and from Israel for assimilation at the living quarters at the complex. Much effort is also being invested in cultural activities for young people and young families in order to involve them in the community, and in providing services to the population.
