The Meaning of Partnership - A Concordia University and Ben Gurion University Pr

The relationship between Israel and the Diaspora is based on a deep sense of partnership between two communities that are in many ways remote from each other, both geographically and in relation to the environment and the unique challenges they face. The goal of the project is to take advantage of the common interests and consensus between Israel and the Diaspora in order to learn about the patterns and points of interest that characterize each community. With this goal, we hope to foster a sense of true partnership, one that appreciates and respects the "other." The project is based on joint cooperation between researchers from the Azrieli Institute for Israel Studies at Concordia University (Montreal) and the Ben Gurion Institute for Israel Studies and Zionism at Ben Gurion University (Sde Boker). This collaboration includes the following: two meetings of three days, one in Montreal (July 2018) and one in Beer Sheva (December 2017). The first two days of the meetings will be held as research workshops, focusing on central issues in Israeli research that are relevant to the relations between Israel and the Diaspora. Each of the workshops, in Canada and in Israel, will end on Tuesday, which will be open to the public from both communities. During the group's visit to Be'er Sheva, the researchers toured various partnership projects throughout the region.
