Diller Teen Fellows Beit Shemesh

The Diller Teen Fellows program was established in 1997 in San Francisco by the Helen Diller Family Foundation. The program is intended for teens in Grades 10 and 11 in Israel and in Jewish communities around the world. The program takes the teens on a personal journey of identity, developing their awareness and leadership ability, and instills values based on Jewish and Israeli identity, pluralism, and on practicing tikkun olam (repairing the world). The program centers on encounters between Jewish teens from around the world and their Israeli peers. The shared dialogue that takes places between these groups, and the focus on experiential learning, create a long term impact on the participants as well as on their families. The program was launched in our region in 2015 our region, with one group from Beit Shemesh /Mateh Yehuda, and a group from Johannesburg. Operating body: Self operated, with close support from the Diller Teen Fellows staff Target population: Teens in Grades 10 and 11 from Beit Shemesh /Mateh Yehuda, and Johannesburg No. of participants: 40 teens Program participants: 1. Strengthen and deepen Jewish identity and develop awareness and respect for diversity and pluralism. 2. Become agents of change, active leaders in addressing community needs. 3. Build meaningful and long term ties with their peers from the local community and in the Partnership. 4. Feel a part of and responsible for Israel and the Jewish people around the world. Program graduates: Are empowered and possess self awareness of their own capabilities. Create circles of influence in their local community. Together with their families, will enhance their sense of connection and belonging to their community, the Partnership, to Israel and the Jewish people.
