International Bible Contest

An Annual Competition for Jewish Youth

International Bible Contest

The Jewish Agency for Israel is a proud sponsor of the International Bible Contest, a competition that raises awareness among the general Jewish public, especially high-school students, about the importance of the Bible to Jewish identity and heritage.

One of the most highly anticipated televised programs in Israel, the annual International Bible Contest begins months earlier, when thousands of young people aged 14-18 begin preparing for the qualifying quiz. This first round is arranged in dozens of countries by The Jewish Agency's Shlichim and many participants study for months to get themselves ready. Afterward, the Jewish Agency arranges for the most successful of the bunch to visit Israel and take part in a two-week Tanach Camp to study the Bible, connect with each other and get ready for the main event—which is televised on Israel's Independence Day. Being part of the contest is a high honor for many young people and their families, but more than anything else, it helps increase the number of Tanach students among Jewish youth, adds a spiritual dimension to Independence Day, and encourages educational interaction between Israeli and Diaspora youth.

Participating in the International Bible Contest was in incredible experience! Beyond the excitement of this huge honor, I had a one-time opportunity to meet many Jews from all over the world and see that we all belong to one global Jewish family. I was also able to visit and experience Israel for the first time.
