Israel In Your Community

From Akko to Omaha - Eliad's Blog

Can you believe it? I truly think that the time in Omaha runs faster than in Israel!

During the last months, more and more people have attended the "Eye on Israel" program. In the last session I showed a short clip, which in my opinion is very connected to Passover, the "Holiday of Freedom". In that video you can see Gilad Shalit, former captured soldier, being interviewed by two Down Syndrome young adults, two years after his release from the Hamas captivity.

With this good energy of hope and freedom, I would like to share with you that during the month of April, the number of Israelis you have already met or will be meeting in the JCC, at the synagogues, in your kids' classrooms or even in the malls is going to raise dramatically thanks to the Partnership and Shaliach program!

The in-service session I led to the Israeli educators and 14 Omaha educators. More pictures and clips from this mission will be on my Facebook page soon.

It was a great opportunity for me to combine again the Partnership program with the Israeli Shaliach program. During these days the teachers reached out to students, educators and families in the synagogues, CDC, Friedel Jewish Academy, Rose Blumkin Jewish Home, the Food Bank of the Heartland plus two public schools in our community- Crestridge Magnet Center and Beveridge Magnet School. My main goal as a shaliach is to bring Israel to our community. Bringing these 12 balls of energy to the classrooms, synagogues, homes and hearts is the best opportunity for you, community and as individuals, to connect Israel in the most impactful ways without barriers... and this is the charm of our Partnership.

Israeli Soldiers - April 11-12

Come and hear the personal stories of two Israeli soldiers, who served in a very interesting position in the IDF. They will participate in varied sessions which you can see in the advertisement.

Israeli Teen2Teen - April 27 - 30

The Israeli teens who hosted Temple Israel teens during their trip to Israel in December will visit Omaha on April 27th- April 30th. You can feel the excitement in the air from both sides during the preparation process before the reunion. The Israeli teens will spend time at Friedel Jewish Academy, in our JCC and of course many hours of pure fun with Temple teens.

New video you must see!

Do you think Passover is the only holiday we do a seder? I am sure that many people from Omaha will know the simple answer - No! We have just finished editing the short clip of the seder we did for Tu B'Shevat - the "International Intergenerational Tu B'Shevat Seder". Enjoy the video and see how much happiness we can experience in inter-generational party from both sides of the ocean.

That's all for now.

Wishing you and yours a happy and kosher Passover filled with freedom and joy!

Elilad Eliyahu
