On the beginning of June, Alroaa School in the Jezreel  Valley  village of Manshiya Zabda celebrated their annual festival, devoted to the three languages that the pupils study at school.  The three languages that the pupils need to know in order to manage in their home country and the rest of the world are: Arabic, their native language; Hebrew, the major language of Israel  and language of the institutions of higher learning; and English, the language of global communication.

Alroaa School is one of the schools participating in the Partnership 2gether Central Galilee 'English – A tool for life' Program. This year we focused on the topic chosen by the Ministry of Education “The Other is Me” and developed ideas to assist the English teachers. As an extension of this topic we asked each school in the Jezreel Valley  to produce stories and articles about their specific community settlement.

As part of the English language section of the Alroaa festival, the pupils presented themselves orally  in English, told about their community, their studies and their pastimes. They welcomed the guests and invited them to read their stories, beautifully displayed at the entrance to the school.

The class then watched a lively movie about Aladdin in English; and subsequently created masks for the story in order to act out their own version.

We would like to congratulate all the pupils and the school’s stuff for their successful event.

Hilary Lavi,

English teachers’ counselor.
