ICP- Tamarack

The Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit together with the Partnership2gether municipalities; Nazareth Illit, Migdal HaEmek and Jezreel Valley, has, since 2002, successfully organized an annual youth mission to Camp Tamarack. Dozens of teens from the three municipalities take part in these missions and spend one session with Detroit teens at Camp Tamarack and are hosted by local Detroit families for the weekend following camp. The Israeli Camper Program continues to be an exciting and unique opportunity to engage American and Israeli campers, host families and community volunteers, broadening exposure to P2G. The main goals of the Israeli Camper Program are to create and sustain meaningful people-to-people connections between the Detroit and Israel communities and to begin training the future leaders of the Federation’s Israel Partnership region. Participants not only enhance their English and leadership skills, but they gain a worldwide Jewish communal perspective they would otherwise not have had. The skills gained from this program ultimately lead to higher academic performance, economic success, and the creation of true leaders.
