1. Introduction

Structure

This session focuses on different kinds of study and analysis activities, addressing some of the highly topical issues through purpose-written source texts and resources and Jewish values around Disengagement.
We hope to extend this series with additional Jewish study resources, in a second part to this session.

Thhe activities proceed in parallel working groups - working separately, on different topics – and the issues are brought together, by having each group present a report for review and discussion at the end of each part.

Facilitators should prepare copies of reference materials, and read other issues in the Israeli Society files and FAQ, as provided.

Purpose

To engage directly in a number of the major sub-issues based on the contract that has been made previously and explore the references and Jewish sources provided.

To raise further issues;

To lay the ground for the simulation game / experiential or creative activities.

After presentations and questions, the facilitator sums up the main points and addresses commonalities between the reference materials.

He or she also sums up any of the main questions that are raised by participants and may address them briefly (e.g.: Division of Israeli society, Religious Zionism, threat of violence), indicating that there will be a chance to step into the shoes of Israelis in the simulation or stations game, as well as other creative activities.
