Basketball Tournament (visit hosted by CHAT high school)

CHAT Jewish High School in Toronto offered to host this year for the first time a basketball team from Eilat-Eilot in a tournament of the Jewish high schools in North America that is held at the CHAT's campus. The Eilat youth basketball team, Ha'Poel Tom Eilat, with the coach Yosi Malol, accepted the invitation and participated in the tournament. The visit took place with the help of the Eilat-Eilot-Toronto Partnership, UJA Federation of Greater Toronto and the Eilat municipality. The Eilati team defeated five teams and entered the final game vs. New York, the only team that managed to win over Eilat 73:64. The second place was an impressive achievement for the team, that made a positive impact over the Toronto Jewish community. "it was a once in life time experience" Noam Edri, 12th grader form Goldwater High school in Eilat, concluded the visit. "the people, the teams, the caring, warmth and love that were showered on us were almost unbelievable". The partnership's plan is to create an annual tradition of Eilati participation in the basketball tournament, with the aim of strengthening the connections between teens from Eilat and Toronto through Competitive sports as well. The Eilati team is planned on coming for the second time in this upcoming November.
