Jane Sherman, Honorary Member Honorary member of the Board of Governors and Member of the Executive

Jane Sherman has spent the last fifty years involved in Jewish communal work. She is particularly interested in children as risk in Israel, Jewish education, and working to train, educate and involve the next generation of Jewish leaders. Jane was the founding Chair of the Young Women's Leadership Cabinet and also was a founder of the Israeli Forum. She was a vice chair for many years of UJA and UJC, and served as chair of the UIA. She is currently on the Global Planning Table. Jane has held numerous top leadership roles in the Detroit federation, including Women's Campaign Chair and President, first woman chair of the General Campaign, and vice president of the Federation. She was a member of the Board of Governors of the Jewish Agency for over twenty five years and is now an honorary board member. She is a member of the Jewish Agency Executive and has chaired the Israel Department, Youth Aliyah and Allocations. She was the first chair of Project Renewal. 

Partnership 2000 and Youth Futures have strated under her chairmanship at the Israel Department of the Jewish Agency. Jane and her husband Larry have led over fifty missions to Israel. Jane also co-chaired and professionaly ran Detroit's first two miracle sessions which involved a total of over 2200 people. Jane is chair of the Max M and Marjorie S. Fisher Foundation. She is a Board member and campaign chair of the Birthright Israel Foundation. She also serves on the board of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Aspen Music Festival and School. Jane and her husband, Larry, are intimately involved in Fisher Flight, a program to educate and train future campaign leadership of the Federation. She has won numerous awards including Detroit's highest honor, the Fred M. Butzel Award. She is a recipient of the Herb Garon Young Leadership Award, Israel Bonds Leadership Award, Sylvia Simon Greenberg Young Leadership Award as well as having been made an honorary citizen of Ramle, Israel. Jane and her husband Larry, have three children and ten grandchildren. 

Ms. Sherman has been a member of The Jewish Agency's Board of Governors since 1983 and from 2012 serves as Honorary Member.
