As part of its commitment to pluralism, The Jewish Agency supports the Reform, Conservative and Modern Orthodox religious streams in Israel

The Jewish Agency supports 30 educational programs in Israel, operated by organizations representing three main Jewish streams: Reform, Conservative and Modern Orthodox. This support stems from a desire to both expose Israelis to the varied expressions of Judaism existing outside Israel and within it, as well as to help Jews worldwide feel that their styles of Jewish expression have a home in Israel. Each year, The Jewish Agency allocates $2.7 Million, divided 40%, 40% and 20% to the Reform, Conservative and Modern Orthodox movements respectively.

This support significantly bolsters the presence of these movements in Israel, strengthens their impact, and helps ensure essential religious diversity and inclusion, affecting hundreds of thousands of Jewish Israelis. Around 600,000 Israelis participate each year in the programs funded through Jewish Agency allocations to the religious streams.

Programs supported by The Jewish Agency include youth movements; leadership training programs; Bar/Bat Mitzvah programs; services for youth at risk; the TALI and Israel Reform Movement elementary school networks; organized “young communities”; activities for young adults; family programs; and more.

The programs are operated by the Israel Movement for Reform and Progressive Judaism (IMPJ); the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Jerusalem; the Masorti (Conservative) Movement; the TALI School Network; the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies and the Schechter Rabbinical Seminary; the International Young Israel Movement; Midreshet Yerushalayim; OU Israel ; and Yeshiva University in Israel.
