Now in its second year in Karmiel/Misgav, this program runs a competition that is parallel to a program that The Holocaust Center of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh has been doing in Pittsburgh for a number of years. Students submit work in three categories around a set theme. This year's categories were film, creative writing, and visual arts, and the theme challenged students to explore the art, music and literature that happened, was inspired by, or is about the Holocaust Era (1933-1945), in three specific areas: the Vilna Ghetto, Terezin/Theresienstadt Camp, or Oskar Schindler's Factory/Schindler's List. In Pittsburgh, both Jewish and non-Jewish schools participate in the competition. This year for the first time, Partnership2Gether implemented a joint judging process whereby judges in each category from Pittsburgh, Karmiel and Misgav debated the submissions and determined a set of Pittsburgh winners, and a set of Israeli winners.>Link to the Israeli 1 st place Movies:

A celebration of the winning work will be held at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh on Sunday, April 27, which will be part of a larger teen-oriented Yom HaShoa program, with the first and second place winners coming from Karmiel/Misgav to Pittsburgh to participate. The Israeli winners will also visit schools (Jewish and non-Jewish) in Pittsburgh, and engage with other teens from area Jewish youth groups.
