Bishvil Hazahav

Bishvil Hazahav is a unique project, creating volunteering partnerships of Council residents with the elderly, who are considered at-risk due to their health, cognitive or mental conditions. The elderly function fully, or in a partial capacity, while some are unable to care for themselves at all. All suffer from varied levels of social loneliness. Bishvil Hazahav connects students, members in pre-military programs (mechina), singles or families on a voluntary basis with the elderly in many activities that give them a sense of belonging and improve their quality of life. Other programs are conducted with adolescents, mainly on Jewish holidays, and in some cases they receive physical help, such as repairing items in their homes or providing basic equipment. Volunteers are Council residents, of a wide range of ages and professions, and include anyone who is prepared to invest efforts for this important goal.
