Nirim in the Neighborhood's classes directly outreaches to street kids; those who have either completely dropped out of High School or just attend classes occasionally. These kids display violent and anti-social behaviors, substance abuse and have a history of truancy, academic failure and ongoing learning disabilities. The class includes a group of 15-25 students who will continue the progress for 3 years of high school. The program includes a day-long social activity outside school every week. Wilderness activity provides challenges, meaningful experiences, and special conditions to increase their self-esteem. Nirim classes are complementary to the Nirim program. Our guides work closely with the class teacher 4 times a week implementing the core values of Nirim.
