This is an only-English summer camp during the month of July 2015. The counselors in the camp are volunteers from the Chicago community that come to the Region for a month to work in the summer camp. The volunteers will be hosted by families in the Region. These volunteers add a unique component to the camp that encourages the use of English on a daily basis during all the hours of camp activity. The summer camp has a diverse program of activity including trips to the pool, hikes, plays, various group activities, day trips and more. The campers will be selected based on the recommendations of the English teachers in the elementary schools. They will be able to choose their specialty according to their interest area. The English camp will take place in Kiryat Gat and will serve the communities of Kiryat Gat, Lachish and Shafir. The idea is to create a learning environment with a somewhat different and inviting atmosphere. Through interaction with the campers, the volunteers from Chicago will learn about life in a development town from close up.
