Youth with Special Needs

The Kiryat Gat branch was established in November 2013, thanks to the support of the Kiryat Gat-Lachish-Shafir-Chicago Partnership. It is a regional branch, serving children and youth from the city of Kiryat Gat and the neighboring regional councils of Lachish and Shafir. The branch welcomes 27 young people with special needs (CP, Autism, PDD and a range of syndromes) aged 7 to 21, and activities are carried out by approximately 60 able-bodied youth counselors, aged 14 to 18, who act as counselors to them. The counselors come from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, some are religious and some are secular, and are brought together in the branch as one unified group. All the leading team members underwent training, and fulfill their roles in the branch successfully.
