With the support of JNF UK, Matanel and others, during 2017 Tenufa Bakehila began offering its uniquely holistic home repair and family counseling services to Israels under-served Kiryat Gat/Shafir/Lachish region. Given the success of the years pilot program, we are now ramping up our regional activities significantly, and are applying to JUF Chicago to support home repairs for 70 families during 2018. Working closely with regional social services, Tenufa Bakehilas warm-hearted work teams provide urgent home repairs at no cost for families with no one else to turn to. While the tradesmen fix the home, our social worker reaches out to help family members address challenges, connecting them with available services in the areas of employment, health and welfare. Our experience confirms the power of this hand-up to kick-start a brighter future, helping the family break the cycle of poverty and distress.
