- The first mitsvah given to the children of Israel was: This month is to be the first of your months. For you it is to be the first of the months of the year (Exodus 12:1).
- The Second mitsvah was to take the young animal (a lamb or kid). On the tenth of this month each person is to take one lamb or kid for each family, one lamb or kid for each household (Exodus 12:3),
- On the fourteenth of the month of Nisan all Israel prepared to slaughter the Pesach. This is the law of the Pesach: no foreigner is to eat of it (Exodus 12:43).
- The first half of the night on which they left Egypt the Israelites were busy with the Pesach sacrifice, roasting it and eating it with matsot and maror, and they are to eat the meat on that night, roasted in fire, and they are to eat it [with] matsot together with maror (Exodus 12:8).
- In the second half of the night they were busy singing praise on their liberation from Egypt.
- And you are to take a bunch of hyssop and dip it into the blood that is in the bowl, and apply to the lintel and to the two doorposts some of the blood that is in the bowl. As for you, nobody is to leave the entrance to his house until morning (Exodus 12:22).
- Now the children of Israel had done as Moses had said, and had asked articles of silver, articles of gold, and clothes from the Egyptians; GOD had given the people favour with the Egyptians, who gave them what they asked, and they stripped Egypt (Exodus 12:35-36).
Mitsvot connected with The Exodus
1. Tefilin.
You are to have it for a sign on your arm, and a memorial between your eyes, so that GOD's torah (teaching) should be in your mouth, because GOD brought you out of Egypt with a strong arm (Exodus 13:9).
2. Sabbath.
And you are to remember that you were a slave in Egypt and GOD your God brought you out from there with a strong arm and outstretched forearm; for this reason GOD your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day (Deuteronomy 5:13).
3. Tsitsit.
Speak to the children of Israel, that they are to make themselves a fringe (tsitsit) ... so that they remember to do all my instructions (mitsvot) ... I am GOD your God who brought you out of Egypt in order to be your God (Numbers 15:37-41).
4. Relating the story on the anniversary.
And you are to tell your son on that day ... (Exodus 13:8).
