  4. The first half of the night on which they left Egypt the Israelites were busy with the Pesach sacrifice, roasting it and eating it with matsot and maror, and they are to eat the meat on that night, roasted in fire, and they are to eat it [with] matsot together with maror (Exodus 12:8).
  5. In the second half of the night they were busy singing praise on their liberation from Egypt.
  6. And you are to take a bunch of hyssop and dip it into the blood that is in the bowl, and apply to the lintel and to the two doorposts some of the blood that is in the bowl. As for you, nobody is to leave the entrance to his house until morning (Exodus 12:22).
  7. Now the children of Israel had done as Moses had said, and had asked articles of silver, articles of gold, and clothes from the Egyptians; GOD had given the people favour with the Egyptians, who gave them what they asked, and they stripped Egypt (Exodus 12:35-36).
