Jewish Peoplehood Project

Every two years we will recruit parallel groups of active residents from Ofakim Merchavim and MetroWest. The two groups will work together and meet during the year as they focus on issues of Jewish identity, Israel Diaspora relations, social involvement and leadership. They will embark on two mutual visits and participate in a seminar for getting to know each other and getting involved in the community. Members of the groups will develop and carry out a parallel project that benefits both communities. "I was totally shocked to find that my hosts home and every other Israeli home must have a bomb safe room to obtain a certificate of occupancy," says Peoplehood Project participant Charles Brand. "I slept in that room every night for a week. My host was a bomb disposal technician in the local police department."
