Press Conference on Sunday Jan. 25th at 1pm on Anti-Semetism Worldwide in Wake of Operation Cast Lead

On Sunday January 25th, 2009 the annual press conference of the Global Forum Against Antisemitism will be held, presenting a summary of Antisemitic incidents around the world in 2008 and a report on Antisemitic incidents in the wake of Operation Cast Lead in Gaza.

UN Holocaust Remembrance Day, and the day commemorating the liberation of Auschwitz, will be marked around the world as a day for combating antisemitism on Tuesday,January 27th 2009.

At the special press conference, Cabinet Minister Isaac Herzog, Treasurer of the Jewish Agency, Hagai Meirom and Jewish Agency Executive member, Amos Hermon will present a summary of Antisemitic incidents around the world in 2008, what is expected for 2009 and ways of dealing with problematical incidents.

In 2005 the United Nations decided to recognize January 27th as the international day to commemorate the Holocaust, 62 years since the liberation of Auschwitz.

In light of racist and antisemitic incidents around the world, events will take place throughout the world during the week beginning January 25th to mark the fight against antisemitism and racism.

The press conference will take place on Sunday January 25th at 1pm at the Jewish Agency for Israel, 48 King George St. Jerusalem with the participation of the Minister of Social Services, Isaac Herzog who also holds the portfolio for World Jewish Affairs and the Fight against Antisemitism ; Hagai Meirom, Treasurer of the Jewish Agency and Amos Hermon, Chairman of the Jewish Agency Task Force against Antisemitism.
