Moshe Ashirie Appointed as Chief Financial Officer of the Jewish Agency for Israel

Moshe Ashirie was appointed on September 19th, 2012 as the Chief Financial Officer of the Jewish Agency for Israel. His appointment was approved by a search committee headed by the Chairman of the Jewish Agency, Natan Sharansky and with the participation of the Chairman of the Board of Governors, James S. Tisch as well as other members of the Board of Governors.

Moshe Ashirie has held a number of senior positions in the Jewish Agency, including Director of the Services & Operations Division and Director of the Budget & Economics Division. In recent months he has served as the acting Chief Financial Officer.

Prior to joining the Jewish Agency, Mr Ashirie held a number of senior positions in the private sector.

The Chairman of the Jewish Agency, Natan Sharansky, congratulated Mr Ashirie on his selection and noted that his extensive experience will be very useful in directing the financial processes within the Agency in the coming years.

Moshe Ashirie holds a BA in Accounting & Economics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is married to Miriam and has three children.

The Jewish Agency for Israel is a global organization with its headquarters in Israel. It has an annual budget of several hundred million dollars which is raised primarily from donors around the world. The Agency serves as the official link between the Jewish state and Jewish communities around the globe—bringing Jews to Israel and Israel to Jews.
