A GLOBAL JEWISH VILLAGE LIGHTING OF 5TH HANUKKA CANDLE BY JEWISH AGENCY CHAIRMAN NATAN SHARANSKY

Jewish Agency Chairman, Natan Sharansky lit the 5th Hannuka simultaneously in five different Jewish communities around the world on Tuesday night.

The event was conducted by video conference from the Jewish Agency`s Headquarters in Jerusalem with the participation of Jewish Agency emissaries serving in Kiev, Paris, London, New York, Chicago, Buenos Aires, Mexico City and Montevideo, as well as participants in Jewish Agency educational programs and candidates for aliyah.

Participating with Natan Sharansky at the lighting of the 5th Hanukka candle at the Jewish Agency were recent young olim and tourists who are currently learning Hebrew at a Jewish Agency Ulpan at Kibbutz Tzuba outside Jerusalem.

The Jewish Agency Chairman, Natan Sharansky greeted the Jewish Agency emissaries in the various parts of the world and told them: "We are one global Jewish village whose center is the State of Israel. Your role as emissaries of the Jewish Agency and State of Israel is to make known the miracle of the existence of the State of Israel throughout the world."
