Statement on Jewish Agency Nominating Process For Chair

Jerusalem, Israel - The nominating process for the Chairman of The Jewish Agency is conducted by a Leadership Nominating Committee consisting of the senior lay leadership of the Agency (representing the World Zionist Organization, the Jewish Federations of North America and Keren Hayesod). During the course of its deliberations the committee is due to consult with the Prime Minister.

After deliberations are concluded, the nominating committee recommends a candidate to the Board of Governors of The Jewish Agency, which then proceeds to vote in one of its upcoming meetings.

Contrary to recent claims, the committee is not yet considering any candidates for the position, and - needless to say - has neither assembled nor submitted to anyone "lists" of potential candidates.
