Yokneam Youth Center

Yokneam is home to a diverse population of teens from differing cultures; this is a youthful landscape that is special but not problem free. The Youth Center serves as the main branch of youth activity in the community. It offers a variety of activities and programs that include teen leadership, assorted interest groups and special activities throughout the year. Beit Rimon is the active branch of the Youth Department and serves as a neighborhood club for Ethiopian Israeli youths from the Nof LeCarmel neighborhood and will continue to operate in this capacity. Recently, we've focused the activity at both clubs on the topic of leadership and we've established groups involved in this area. We've invested efforts in recruiting the younger youths (7th to 9th graders) in order to cultivate awareness in the community and connect its children with the Department's activity, thus building the next generation. Through the program, we've reestablished the municipal Youth Council, a voluntary body that represents the city's youth before various municipal bodies (Community Center, city council, etc.) The Youth Department and activity centers are run by staff that specializes in informal education and seeks to address the needs of youth in the community. Topping the list of needs are the creation of a positive leisure culture, connecting between different youth populations, and connecting mapped youths with the various programs and special activities during the year.
