The program is intended for families residing in the Megiddo Regional Council in need of assistance and empowerment in various life areas pertinent to family functioning. Some of the families are extended families from the mapped population that are still in need of assistance; others are new families located mainly through social workers. The backgrounds of the targeted families are similar in characteristics to that of families accompanied in the past, e.g., employment difficulties, at risk children, emotional difficulties within the family framework. It should be noted that each year we reduce the number of families and this year we're making the transition from working according to the Eliakim family accompaniment model in favor of accompanying families from all the local communities. A central tool we've chosen is family coaching. Working with the family, the family escort builds a personal empowerment program that is adapted to each individual and the family as a whole. Emphasis will be placed on building an optimal plan for the future and internalizing positive patterns of responsible behavior. In addition, the located families will be accompanied from the aspect of employment, with the goal of leading them towards financial independence and well being. Simultaneously to accompanying them individually, we will plan to integrate the families into community programs.
