David Barish Member of the Board of Governors

David Barish, active in the Houston Jewish community, has served as President of the American Jewish Committee Houston Chapter and Chair of the Houston AIPAC Council. He currently serves on the boards of the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston, Bureau of Jewish Education, Friends of the IDF and Congregation Emanu El. An avid supporter of Israel, Barish serves on AIPAC’s National Council, is a member of the Board of Governors of the Jewish Agency for Israel and is President of HonestReporting.com.

David Barish is President & CEO of Chair King Backyard Store, the largest outdoor furniture retailer in Texas and President & Chairman of Fortunoff Backyard Stores in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Florida. He earned his PhD in Jewish History in Late Antiquity from Hebrew Union College in 1983. He is married to Linda Jayaram.

Mr. Barish served as a Committee Member since 2009 and has been a member of the Board of Governors since 2010.
