Debbie L. Berman is a member of the board of directors of the Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago (JUF/JF).  She also chairs JUF/JF’s Israel and Overseas Commission and serves as a committee member on the JUF/JF Overall Planning and Allocations Committee, Leadership Development Advisory Committee and the Lawyers Division Leadership Cabinet.  In the past, she has served as a vice chair of JUF/JF and as a member on several other committees.

Debbie has been active in the Jewish community for many years.  Currently, she is a member of the Midwest Regional Board of the Anti-Defamation League, serving as a co-chair of the Midwest Civil Rights Executive Committee and as a judge for the First Amendment Contest.  She is the inaugural co-chair of the BBYO Chicago Area Friends and Alumni Network.  She is a vice president board member of Leadership Greater Chicago.  She founded the Chicago area Brandeis Alumni Lawyers Group and is a member of the Brandeis University Alumni Admissions Council.  She is an alumnus of the National Young Leadership Cabinet and the Wexner Heritage Program.

Debbie is a graduate from Brandeis University, AB in Economics with high honors, summa cum laude and the Harvard Law School, JD, cum laude.

Debbie is a partner with the law firm of Jenner & Block LLP focusing her practice on complex commercial litigation.  She is the Co-Chair of the Media and First Amendment Practice, Ms. Berman is a member of the Complex Commercial Litigation Practice and the Trademark, Advertising and Unfair Competition Practice.  She also is the Co-chair of the Firm’s Litigation Associate Assignment Committee and Chair (Emeritus) of the Firm’s Women’s Forum Steering Committee.

She is a board member since 2013 and previously served as a committee member and participant in two Next Generation programs. On June 2015 she was appointed as a committee member. and from June 2021 she is a Board member.
