Recognition of Degrees by Overseas Universities

It is recommended to have foreign degrees evaluated and recognized upon arrival in Israel.

The salary of public sector workers in Israel is connected to their qualifications.

Degrees awarded by Israeli Universities are automatically accepted for this purpose, whilst degrees issued by a foreign university must be assessed by the Ministry of Education.

Additionally, in order to register for unemployment benefits through the academic, rather than the general bureau, a recognized degree must be presented.

How to apply

To submit the application by mail, all documents must be copied and the copies authenticated (stamped "Ne'eman Lemakor") by an Israeli Lawyer. The lawyer must include his name, license number, signature, and authentication stamp on each document.  The authenticated copies should then be sent in an envelope which includes your details on its back, together with a completed application form to:

Unit for Evaluation of Foreign Academic Degrees
Ministry of Education
22 Kanfei Nesharim St
Jerusalem

In order to submit in person you must apply at the location closest to your address as listed on your Teudat Zehut (ID Card).
