WHEREAS since 2009 JAFI has partnered with the Government of Israel through the Prime Minster’s Office and the Ministry of Senior Citizens, in its initiative to seek restitution and/or compensation of stolen and looted assets of Holocaust victims or their heirs through Project HEART; and

WHEREAS the Government of Israel has borne over 95% of the funds for Project HEART since 2009 through December 31, 2012; and

WHEREAS due to the lack of an approved Government of Israel budget for 2013, Project HEART stands to be dramatically affected, more so than other government backed projects, which will negatively impact victims and their heirs and the high level and standard of activities of Project HEART.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:

JAFI calls on the Government of Israel to continue and maintain its financial support of Project HEART in the coming years, at not less than the level it funded the project in the budget years 2009 -2012.
