Beer Sheva-Bnei Shimon - Montreal
The Proud Delegations project recognizes the unique connection between two communities: the Gay Jewish population in Beer Sheva and Montreal. Constructing a support system based on a shared Jewish heritage is a cornerstone for the Jewish Agency. As a minority within a minority, Jewish LGBTQ individuals also share a unique culture, and we believe it can build a bridge between various Jewish communities in Montreal and Beer Sheva, and encourage dialogs and corporations. Our primary goal is to promote and enable networking to establish new and heterogenic cultural spheres, based on the strong belief that culture can change existing realities and create new ones. The project will be conducted in two sessions: in August 2018 an Israeli delegation to Canada during Montreal's pride week, and in June 2019 Canadian delegation to Israel during Beer Sheva's pride week . Each visiting delegation will stay for a week of seminars, tours, roundtable gatherings and personal meetings, getting to know local LGBTQ venues, communities, activities and activism.
Rehovot - Minneapolis
Following a successful Minneapolis artists visit in Rehovot, this program has been defined as another way to engage a different part of both communities and within the adult age range. Artists in Minneapolis and Rehovot were paired and spent the year having two kinds of study sessions. 1:1 personal study sessions: each pair was given text to learn and discuss on their own (via Skype, email, etc). Four group study sessions in each city took place to discuss what each artist discussed with his/her counterpart in the partnered city. The program culminated with an exhibit from all artists both in MPLS (May June 2018)/ In addition some of the artwork was sold in Minneapolis and proceeds donated to future joint art projects. There is a joint website for this project at: https://www.p2gx.com/ Next year's project will be based on the concept of REART and will include an artists exchange in 2019.
